Compton Station Has New Mascot
Meet ‘Cuffs,’ the local Sheriff’s station’s new cat

COMPTON—Meet the newest member of Compton Sheriff’s Station: Cuffs the cat.

The young female feline showed up at the station about a month and a half ago, said Capt. William Ryan. She’s been hanging around ever since.

“It was more like she adopted us,” Ryan said.

It was apparent when Cuffs adopted the station that she had just had kittens and had not been well cared for. Several deputies took the emaciated cat to the vet to be spayed and receive the requisite shots.

Cuffs now spends much of her time in the first-floor dispatch center, where deputies have set up a bed and littered the floor with cat toys.

She’s also known to stroll the parking and roam the station, sometimes even challenging detectives and higher-ups for their desk chairs.

“To me, things like this, it makes it fun here at the station,” Ryan said.
